Proven: You can do something new.
This is the third part of my discussion about my training and what it has meant to me. Part of my new training has been about how to diversify, that is, to do something different, something new, that I had no previous experience of and little if any knowledge of.
Why people need something different.
This year especially has been a tough year for many people. Just this week we have seen the collapse of Debenhams and Top Shop and Dorothy Perkins. That means that around 25,000 people have suddenly found that they don’t have a job any more. This comes on top of the hard time that is already being had by people in the hospitality industry who must be very anxious about how secure their job is. It must feel like a death of a thousand cuts to feel so insecure about your work and not know how long you will have a job for. I remember about 8 years ago working for a company who’s future was not looking to bright. There were rumours going around for a long time about if they were going bust or if they would survive. It went on for a few months until, in the end, they went bust. It was no surprise, but it still came as a bit of a shock. I should of started to look for something else when the rumours started. I hoped for the best. But I did not like change, and I felt a sense of loyalty to the company that I was working for. As many have found loyalty is often only one way when you work for other people, even if it was for a long time. That is why people need something different, something they can do for themselves that is not reliant on others. For me this became increasingly true because over the last 4 years I was made redundant 3 times, all of them out of the blue.
What are people doing differently?
Here are a few examples of what companies and individuals are doing differently to thrive:
- I read this week about Lush the company who sells soaps and bathroom stuff. Their shops are always full of amazing, heady smells of lavender, peach and many other fragrances. When lockdown came they had a problem, they had shops full of stock they could let people buy. So, they turned parts of their shops into warehouses and got their staff to do local deliveries to people who ordered from them online. Now their shops double as local distribution centres. Online sales have boomed this year with GlobalData saying that online sales in the UK have increased by 50% this year alone.
- Then I read the story of Bruce Tate. He worked in hospitality doing live bookings for music at pubs and weddings etc. Is work died overnight and he had no financial support. Then he had a light bulb moment when he saw a cyclist ride past, and he realised his office was next to a popular cycle route. From that he opened a cyclist café and now he has a booming business.
I don’t have the skills to change!
For many of us the reason why we are reluctant to change or do something different is because we don’t have the skills or knowledge to do anything different. We don’t want to have to go back to school to learn a new skill, we don’t have enough time as it is, right? We often don’t want to take risks. We certainly don’t want to fail and let down our families. I know exactly how that feels.
I have worked in construction for over 30 years and that is all I have known. If I ever thought about doing anything else or trying to earn extra money it would always centre around construction, that was all I knew. That is why the training that was being offered to me was so appealing:
- I could do it at my own pace. So, I could do it alongside my normal job.
- It guided me through the process step by step.
- I had lots of support to fall back on when and if I needed it.
- There was a whole community of others learning and teaching who encourage you.
- I had access to comprehensive resources to learn more if I chose to.
- There is no pressure, you are in the driving seat. So if life gets hectic, no problem.
So, for me, I wanted to learn, I want to do something different and make a change. What I am learning will give me more financial security and I will not be dependent on others for it. I will be dependent on myself. I am learning a new skill, online marketing, which has grown enormously in the last decade.
Online marketing benefits.
There are three main benefits to learning online marketing:
- Diversity. If you can learn how to market online there are lots of things you can do. You can guide people to the products of other companies, which is called affiliate marketing. Consider this. Do you have any hobbies? People are often very passionate about their hobbies and because of this they are often very knowledgeable about them. Could you share your passion with other people and make money by directing them to a tool or product.
-
So, for example, I love kayaking and outdoors things. There is a company that specializes in affiliate marketing these kinds of products. So, I can do something I love and show other people how good it is and get paid for it. Isn’t that cool. Better than that, I can do it with more than one product, so I can have more than one income stream, infact I can have as many as I like.
- More Time. With a successful online business, you get more free time. When it is up and running it works for you every minute of the day….. and night. So you can be earning money even when you are asleep. Or you can be earning money when you are doing what you love, whatever that is. For me this is a massive plus. My wife and I had always wanted to do more together, but we never had that much time together apart from the normal weekends and 4 or 5 weeks holiday a year. And they always go too fast, don’t they?
- Work anywhere. The final benefit of successful online marketing is you can work anywhere. Anywhere, that is, you can get an internet signal. But that is most of the world now. You only have to look at YouTube to see how true this is. There are many people who use that platform and others to earn money doing what they love. For example, I like sailing. Although I am not a good sailor. But it has always fascinated me that you can get in a boat and go to so many places on earth. So many of the people I watch on Youtube make videos of themselves sailing literally around the world. One guy, his name is Barry Perrins and he came from Portsmouth but now he is in New Zealand having sailed there via a myriad other places single handed. Whenever he gets some internet signal he uploads a video about his latest adventures. The money he earns from it helps to pay for his adventures. That is a little extreme, but I’m sure you get the point.
What do you want to do?
So, what do you want to do? Are you going to rely on the loyalty of whoever you work for? Are you going to hope for the best? Would you like to do something different and change how you work? Do you want to learn a new skill which will give you enormous benefits and potential financial independence? This is not a get rich quick scheme, they are fantasies. It’s not risky, you’re not betting on a maybe. You are investing in yourself to change your life at your own pace. Click here and leave me your contact details and I will send you a free video series which will tell you more about the training, and what it could do for you. You have nothing to lose, it could change your whole life.

Why I needed an open mind.
This is the second instalment of how the training I have been doing since January this year is helping me to build a better life for me and my family:
I was brought up in a working-class family. We didn’t have loads of money, but we got by. So, phrases like money doesn’t grow on trees and what, do you think I’m made of money were not uncommon.
As I grew up, I worked hard but never had loads of money. I always had enough to get by and do some of the things I wanted. You know how it goes though, there are ups and downs. Sometimes, things were harder than others like if there was a recession on or the company I was working for went bust and I needed to find new work. If I worked extra time then I would save that money for a holiday or something else that needed paying for. I never seemed to get ahead of the game as far as money was concerned.
As I got older, I came to believe that rich people only got their money by screwing over people, like me, over. I never won anything either, so I guessed I was not the luckiest person alive either. So, life seemed to be only about work in the main. Work hard and get ahead. Work hard to be able to have a week or two off, then when that’s gone, work hard again.
Then in January this year I started to do this training and learning more about it. One of things they said early on was that I needed to keep an open mind. As the training moved on it became clearer why. We can all learn things, as we get older it may take a little longer, but we can all do it. In fact, to a large degree that is the easy bit. I can learn something new but may have to listen to the instructions a few times before I get it right.
If you learn something new, anything, but don’t believe that what you have learnt is true or will work, then it won’t. It won’t work because you don’t believe it will, so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Here is an example.
Early on you a told that it is possible to create a successful online business based around things you are passionate about. There are steps that you are shown to set up a business and how to market it in a genuine and informative manner. They show you what to do to be successful.
If in your head you don’t believe you are capable of being successful or are not worth it, or don’t deserve it, or you’re too old then you won’t ever be successful until you can change that way of thinking, those beliefs.
If you look through history successful people have a mindset that they already achieved what they want, even when they have not. They have faith if you like in what they believe. Henry Ford was one such person. He was uneducated and came from a poor family. None of that stopped him. He knew what he wanted to achieve, and he would not give up until he got what he wanted. Even when others told him it wasn’t possible; he would not take no for an answer. The same is true of Alexander Graham Bell. I bet the same is true also of Elon Musk who is one now one of the richest men in the world.
So, what do these people have in common.
- They have a clear vision of what they want.
- They make plans to get what they want.
- They seek out like-minded people.
- They take regular action to achieve their vision.
- They have determination.
There has been a lot written about this and you will learn this as you go on. But this is still not enough. Because it comes back to what you believe about yourself as well as what you want that makes the big difference. How can you change that belief? Most of us have things we believe about ourselves that we have though from a young age. So, these beliefs are ingrained in us. It takes some doing to change them. We all have a voice in our head, like a little man with a megaphone. What it says to you depends on what you believe about yourself and your goal.
Does it swear at you and call you stupid?
Does it tell you you're too old?
Does it tell you “You can’t do that!”
Does it tell you “it’s too risky!”
You’ll never be any good!
Then there is fear.
Fear of failing.
Fear of looking stupid.
Fear of letting your family down.
Fear of change.
I have heard all these things; my inner voice has told them to me loads of times. Changing those thoughts and beliefs has been and still is a battle.
How can you overcome this? There are two main things that helped me.
Beliefs. The first one is something called self-affirmations. This works on the principle of repetitive learning. Your mind is like a computer. It is programmed to act in a certain way depending on what you tell it. If you believe you are unlucky and keep telling yourself that, then that is what will happen to you. But you can change this by changing the record. Tell yourself what you want to be but say it in a manner as if you were already that person. Tell it to yourself out loud and in your head, write it out, repeat it to yourself daily and numerous times. Then your subconscious will start working towards these new instructions, to make you that person. The great thing is, even if you don’t believe these new things you are telling yourself, by keep on repeating them as if you are that person your mind will work towards making that happen.
This process is helping to feel more self-estimate, that I am worth it. I am going to be successful organised methodical and determined. It has helped to calm down that internal voice which was so quick to deride and pour scorn on me. It is helping me to change what I believe.
Fear. If you think about it most of the things, we fear have not happened to us yet. We think they will, in a while or further down the line. But most, most of those fears have not happened yet. It is the belief or anticipation that they will happen which scares us and occupies our thoughts. But they may not. It takes brain power to be scared. It uses up energy, energy we could be using doing or thinking about something else. We can save our energy and stop being scared if we get things in perspective. One way of doing this is by what they call being Present or Living in the Now. Now is the only one time that matters. The past is gone and cannot be changed. It does not define who you are for the same reason. You are who you are now! The same with the future, it is not here yet, has not happened. So, you cannot worry about it and there is no point fearing it. You can only deal with what is happening now. There is nothing else. We all live in this moment; it is the only fraction of time we can work with.
Especially when I was made redundant for the 3rd time in 4 years this concept of concentrating on living in the moment really helped me to stop fearing what was going to happen. It allowed me to put my energies into this new training and focus. Not just on that but on my family to. I cut my anxiety levels and helped me be there mentally for my family, not preoccupied with what I was afraid might happen.
This whole process is a work in progress. I have days when I feel great and others not so. But overall, it is making me a better person. Someone who is more likeable and a better father and husband as a result. All because I can be more present, focus on the people who matter and believe I am a person of value who is worth it. For me I have had to do this before I can run a successful online business. But if you asked my wife, she would tell you that even if the business never took off it would have been worth it to have a husband and father who is better than the one she married.
There is a lot more that I could say, but it would take too long. If any of what I have said resonates with you and you would like to find out more then click here and I will send you a free video series which will tell you much more.

Follow my training.
So, I have been doing this training for 10 months now. When I started I was not working and so had more time to do it.I was made redundant in December 2019. It came as a big blow to me as I hade been made redundant before a couple of times. Each time we would survive but get a bit more in debt so we could cover the bills. As I started to get more work coming in though it has been harder. But this is one of the beauties of this training. You can do it at your own pace and do it alongside your normal work. Then COVID started to kick in hard and we were put in lockdown. The work I had at the time dried up. This was great because it meant that I could really focus on the training but also think about putting it into action.
So, it is hard to fit 10 months into a blog that won’t bore you witless. But here is a summary of what it has involved. To start, you are shown what the training is about. This is highlighted in the first videos you will get when you sign up. There are two basic routes. Affiliate marketing, where you direct customers to someone’s product and E-commerce which is where you sell a product online. These two routes have one thing in common, the internet. You can do both things via the internet as an online business. You build it up through online marketing and it will work for you constantly, wherever you are and whatever you are doing. This in return gives you immense freedom to do things and be places, so long as you have a good connection. So, with both routes what you need to now is internet marketing. This is something that they teach you how to do directly, one step at a time. Because the courses are online it means that you can do them when you want to and in your own time.
Previously when I was younger such new ways of thinking would not have interested me. I would not have considered them and just brushed them aside as “rubbish”.
So, you may be thinking,” I would never have to time to do that”. Or “l don’t have the skills to sell online”. I know that feeling, and even when you start doing the training there are times when it can feel like your brain will explode with the information you try to take in. So, to overcome this you must remember this: “A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step”.
That sounds cliché but it is the truth, every day you need to aim to learn at least one thing, take one small step. That is why this program is not a get rich quick program. No one will promise you that you will become a millionaire overnight. If that is what you are looking for, then this is not for you. It is a way of learning how to build an online business for yourself that you can then scale to a level you are happy with.
So then comes something else you will need to work out. You are probably still thinking, “What would my online business sell or be about?” Let me ask you this, do you have any hobbies or interests that you love to do? Would you like to do them more? Why don’t you? You probably don’t have the time. You have to go to work. Then you may have a flimsily as well, spend time with the children, do jobs around the house. How could you have any more time. There are two things to consider here:
- Most people who have hobbies would love to do them more, but because it is not how their career turned out, they do their job instead. If someone showed you how you could make a living out of doing one or more of your hobbies would you be interested?
- Most people who have a hobby are very well informed about their subject. Indeed, many are experts at their chosen interest. Some are even geniuses! That knowledge is a gift.
Let me give you some examples. My hobbies are woodwork, kayaking, fishing, caravanning and outdoor cooking. I love doing these things. Woodwork is something that I have loved for a long time. Including wood turning and carving. So as part of what I have learnt I have can now make good quality videos about what I make. I am even in the process of setting up a YouTube channel about the things I do and make. I’m a 56-year-old builder, this is something that I would never have dreamed of doing under a year ago. Indeed, I would have done anything to get out of being in a video or in a photo about it.
So, this has given you some idea of what I have been doing over the last 10 months. What is being offered is a business training program crossed with a personal development programme. It is something you must want to do because it will take time, commitment, and determination. What it is offering is life changing. It will give you financial security, more free time snd the freedom to work anywhere you can get an internet signal. When I first heard about it I was curious, but I was a bit sceptical to. But to get started costs you nothing, it is absolutely free. Send me you contact details, and I will send you a free series of videos that explain more about the ways you can start an online business. The video series is free. If you decide it is not for you then you can unsubscribe from me and you will never hear from me again. What have you got to lose? If you want to build a better life for yourself and your family this is a very good place to start.

Have you got your future covered?
There are 920,000 people work in the UK in construction who are self-employed.
- 9 out of 10 have no serious injury insurance.
- Half of them have no savings to fall back on in case they fall ill.
- One third of them have inadequate provision for old age.
I was one of those people. I have been self employed for more than 30 years and all of those things applied to me.
I could see how easily my life and my family’s life could change for the worse if I became ill and could not work as I do now. I didn’t know what I was going to do as I got older. It was a real worry. Sometimes I would lie awake at night thinking about it. But what could I do? I have only ever known construction. I didn’t have the money or the time to retrain, go back to school. It was a scary thought knowing you were walking into poverty, but I had no idea how to stop it.
But it is not just me, there are others who are in the same situation. Here is a link to an article about how so many more people are now working well past the age when they can retire.
Also, because there are so many young people who are losing their jobs at this time, this will affect them in the future. Because the money that you pay into your pension when you are young has the most time to accumulate and add value and grow your final pot of money. So those early contributions make a huge difference to the final outcome. Trying to catch that up in later life is incredibly expensive.
Now imagine what it would feel like not to have to worry about taking time off again. How would it feel to know you could take off as much time as you needed, whenever you wanted? Indeed, what would it feel like to know you’ve got your future covered and it’s only going to get better. I would be amazing, but how could it happen.
In December 2019 I was made redundant again. I was at rock bottom. Then , I saw and ad on YouTube. It was offering me the chance to learn how to make myself financially secure and at the same time to have more free time to spend with my wife and family by working on the internet. Initially, I wasn’t convinced, but I was curious. Plus, what was being offered was free. So, I had nothing to lose. Is all I had to do was give my name and an email address.
Since then I have learnt how to build an online business from scratch. The training I received guided me every step of the way. I showed me what was possible to do on the internet and how to “work smarter…… not harder”.
The internet has changed the way business is done – forever. Internet sales just keep on growing.
You may be thinking I did I don’t have the skills.
Here’s some good news. Anyone can learn how to do this, and learn it while you do your regular job. An online business works for you 24/7. It is working for you wherever you are, when you are asleep or on holiday or in the bath. It gives you great flexibility.
So, let me ask you a few simple questions:
- Can you afford to be ill?
- Do you feel financially secure?
- When will you retire? Or will you have to keep on working?
If the answer to any of these questions troubles you, what are you going to do?
- Wait and hope to win the lottery and do nothing?
- Get another job and see if you can save more? This will mean you spend even more time working!
We cannot change the past. We can only change today and tomorrow.
Decide what you want and what is best for you and your family.
You have a choice. Are you going to carry on as you are, knowing it’s not going to get any better? Or will you choose to learn a new skill and change your life.
Now more than ever so many people are retraining. Many have lost their jobs and they realise that they have to retrain to be able to survive. Here is a link to an article from this week where it talks about people who have done just that. Some have gone back to passions they had when they were younger but because they had a job that took them away from it they almost forgot about it. But when the job went, so they then had the chance to look back, see their passion in the past and reconnect with it.
Send me your name and an email address and I am going to send you a free video series that will tell you more about it. They come from an educational company that teaches people like us, who have had no previous experience, how to build an online business.
There is a whole community of people who are learning how to do this from scratch. Many are already operating their own business. All of them are just like you and me. They wanted to change but didn’t know how. This is how, are you ready to change?
Are you ready to change your future?
So from now on I am going to change things around a little. I seem to be talking about very similar things from week to week and you have more than likely heard enough about it from me and the rest of the world. What I am going to do from now on is tell you how my journey is going. How is my retraining going? What am I learning, how am I finding it? What benefit am I getting from it? I hope you will continue to read this, and you will get value from it. More importantly I hope you will see that this is not a scam or a con but rather a genuine way of retraining yourself to build a better life for you and your family.

What drives you?
People are motivated by lots of different things. What motivates you? What makes you want to get out of bed in the morning? Is it the desire for more money, success, fame, helping others, fear of failure. There are many different things for everyone.
There are two drivers that are very similar but very different at the same time. They are faith and fear. When I say faith, I don’t mean religious faith on its own. Faith can be described in lots of ways. It can be said to be a confidence, we use the phrase about someone having the courage of their convictions, this is faith. It is defined as a complete trust or confidence in someone or something. It can equally be religious if that is what motivates you. Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. Fear also has many other names such as anxiety, terror or nervous.
What do both of these things have in common. They can both be felt in connection with an event that has not yet happened and that cannot be seen or touched, such as something in the future. For example, religious people have faith that they will go to heaven when they die, this is what they believe even though it has not happened to them and they cannot see it with their eyes. Equally they may have a fear of hell. They may have a belief that both are equally real, and both are perceived by these different drivers. The bible tells us that if you have a little faith you can move mountains (Matthew 17.20)
How do these emotions and feelings drive us?
Interestingly faith is not a feeling it is an emotion. Feelings are always conscious, like feeling hungry. Feelings can be sparked by emotions and shaped by personal experiences, beliefs, memories, and thoughts linked to that particular emotion. Strictly speaking, a feeling is the side product of your brain perceiving an emotion and assigning a certain meaning to it. Emotion on the other hand is deeper seated and can be conscious and subconscious. Emotions can only ever be felt, so we talk about having an emotional experience. Take love for example, it can make us feel joy, grief, rage, longing, and jealousy. So, emotions are often very powerful.
How does faith or fear affect your life.
A simple way to sum up how they affect your life is Faith is positive and fear is negative. Remember, we don’t mean here that fear of being run over is negative, it makes us cautious when we cross the road and so keeps us safe. We are talking about events that have not yet happened and that cannot be seen or touched, such as something in the future. This may be fear of failure, losing your job or getting ill. We mean things we worry about but have no reason. These feelings can then hold us back and stop us enjoying our life, affect our relationships, work, and health. They take up huge amounts of mental energy that affects our brains performance and impairs our ability to work on other projects either physically or mentally. They drain, fatigue and drag us down mentally and physically.
On the other hand, faith has the opposite effect. Remember faith is complete confidence and trust in something or someone. If you have faith in something it is as if it has happened already you are just waiting for it to arrive. Think what that means. If you have a goal, something you want or desire, a new car for example, if you have faith then you will see it in your minds eye as if it has already happened. You have complete trust and confidence you will have it. You can see it, feel it, smell the leather seats, and hear the sound of the engine purring. This will create positive emotions which will uplift your spirit. But more than that it will motivate you to get it, to work for it. In fact, this picturing of your goal has the effect of making your subconscious work towards getting it. Your subconscious is built to fulfil your desires whatever they are.
If it was that easy why haven’t I got all the things I desire?
One reason basically, YOU. More precisely your thoughts and feelings. We all have thoughts of course but for many of us we limit what we can do because of what we believe and think. Look at your dream car in your mind, what do you think, right now:
I love it but its way out of my price range.
I can’t afford that!
I don’t deserve it.
I’ll get it……….one day.
When I win the lottery, I’ll get one.
So, you may say you really want that car with the leather seats and smooth engine. But you have already told yourself why you can’t have it. That is why you won’t get it. Simple, yes but not really. Trying to change how we think and feel about things takes time and effort. The first step is to recognize this simple truth. The next is to change how we think about things. When we were children when we learnt new things at school we did it by repeating the same thing. Over and over again. If you want to change how you think about things then you can say what you want to think or feel repeatedly, and your subconscious will work to do it. This is true even if you don’t believe what you are saying at the beginning. Your subconscious does not know or care what is true or false, it is built to do what you tell it to do. That program is what you think, believe, and feel. Tell it what that is, and it will do the rest.
How do I know this is true?
There are many examples of people who have had faith in something they wanted, even the seemingly impossible. It may not have happened quickly or smoothly, but it happened in the end. Some of them are very famous. Henry Ford is a good example. He never reached secondary school. He came from a poor family. But he had imagination, determination, endurance, he also surrounded himself with people who were not negative.
Another example is Alexander Graham Bell. He came from a very similar background but know what he wanted. He could see it clearly; it was just a case of making it happen. Happen through determination, working towards his goal, doing positive things that would bring the goal closer.
Find out more.
All of what I have written here was a real surprise to be when I started to learn about it a year ago. I had no idea and had never heard about it. But at the same time, I was a victim of my own limiting beliefs about what I could and could not do. That’s how I know what it is like to think you can’t have what you want. Then I was introduced to a new way of thinking about things and learning. It’s not possible to go through everything in a blog like this. But if you would like to find out more about this and see how you could learn about how to make a difference in your life then click here and give me your email address and I will send you a video series about how you can learn to do this and implement it in your life.

What is Weird?
If I was to tell you that there is a universal law that will get you anything you want, would you think that was weird? You may do, but it is not as weird as you think. Find out why here.
Here is a definition of weird: adj. 1. involving or suggesting the supernatural; unearthly or uncanny: a weird sound. 2. strange; unusual; peculiar: a weird costume.
So, let’s think about some weird things, and are there different levels of weird?
What is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you?
Perhaps you have bumped into someone you know in the most unlikely of places perhaps while you were on holiday in some far-flung corner of the world. Or have you accosted someone who you thought was the spitting image of your best friend only to find they were complete strangers. You feel amazed at such a coincidence, but you can accept that these things happen.
Even nature is full of weird things such as the aurora borealis or bioluminescence. If you saw some of these things you would be amazed and count yourself lucky because they are generally not common events that we see. But we know of them and although we may not understand them we accept that they exist and are happy to be dazzled by them and sometimes are able to go out of our way to view them.
These things are unusual, peculiar, strange, or even uncanny, so they are weird by definition. But can we get weirder? Yes, we can but it gets a bit more scientific. Now I am no scientist, and I don’t profess to understand all of this. But it is reported as being fact and I have no reason to disbelieve it. The next things are weirder, but we do have a scientific explanation as to why and how they happen even if we find it hard to understand.
- Because of its speed and distance from us the internal clock on a satellite tells a different time our clocks on earth.
- When you go really fast, I mean at an appreciable fraction of the speed of light, you start to get heavier.
- Dark energy and dark matter. Both are things we can’t see and don’t understand. But we know they exist.
When we get into science we can also get into some crazily weird numbers.
- Numbers such as the diameter of the observable universe being 46.5 billion light years.
- The human body is made up of 99.9999999 empty space.
We can read these numbers, but we cannot comprehend them, they are just too big. And to think that we are mainly built of nothing seems really weird. But all of this is true, just because we don’t understand it does not mean it is false.
But then as science has looked closer and closer into things then they really go off the scale of weird.
- Vacuums are not empty. No, it is true, vacuums are not empty space but rather they are full of particles appearing and disappearing out of thin nothingness.
- Entanglement. A particle on earth can affect one on the other side of the universe, instantaneously. What’s more they can be said to be spinning in both directions until you observe them and then one will spin one way and the other will spin the other way instantaneously, even if it is on the other side of the universe. If one changes so will the other one, they will always be opposite.
- Killing the cat with the Zeno effect. A cat is put in a box. There is a radioactive substance in the box as well. Eventually this substance will decay and when it does it will release a particle. When the particle is released it is detected and allows a poisonous gas to fill the box which kills the cat. The particle in the substance does not decide to decay or not until you observe it. So, when the box is closed is the cat dead or alive or both? Until you look both may be the case.
But again, all these things are apparently true and have been shown to exist. I don’t understand them, but this is what scientists say they can demonstrate to be true. So, what if I told you that there is a law that says: Whatever you want, you can ask the universe for and it will deliver it for you. You may think this is weird, uncanny, or supernatural. But as we have seen already weird things are quite common in the universe. Some of them are harder to believe than others but they are still true, and people can demonstrate that they are. So, it is with the law of attraction. Weird, yes. Do you understand it, possibly not? Does that mean it is false or cannot be? Not if you go by what we have seen above.Had you of spoken to me about this a few years ago I would have said it was crazy and I didn’t believe in it. But recently I have been learning about not just this but a whole host of other things in relation to how to build a successful online business. Learning about it and putting it into practice has had a transformative effect on me and my life. Yes, I know to a lot of people it will sound balmy. But it is not. Here is a summary of how it works:
Everything is made of atoms.
Atoms are full of energy, which is vibration.
So, we are full of energy and vibrate in distinct ways.
Our thoughts are electrical and also vibrations. These can be recorded by medical equipment.
Given this, what you think changes your vibration.
We resonate with certain things, we are attracted to them, in tune with them.
Depending what and how we think, we can attract different things into our life, good and bad.
This idea is not new. I have been around for many centuries. It is also used by a lot of famous and wealthy people. You only have to google: Famous people and The law of Attraction.
There have been a few people who have made a good life for themselves who have wanted to share this knowledge. People such as Andrew Carnegie who commissioned the book, Think and Grow Rich. Then in more modern times there is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
I was first introduced to this idea because I was interested in starting my own online business. One of the first things that I was told was that I would need to be open minded. I’m glad I was. Since then I have learnt so many new things. I have learnt how to build an online business from scratch and then how to run it. All of this is step by step with someone to guide you. If I really got stuck, and there were times when I did, then there is a whole support network of people to help you out and answer your questions. As well as that there is an enormous community of like minded people who are doing the same thing. They are putting all of this into action in their lives and making it work. I started learning about this through a free video series that I was sent. Is all I did was send my name and email address and they did the rest. I would like to share this with you now. Remember it is a free video series. It is not a get rich quick scheme. It will take effort on your part to learn. But you can do it at your own pace and the results are amazing.
If you would like to find out more about this free video series then click here.
It may sound weird, but as we have seen, that does not mean it isn’t true!

What Are You Building?
Its been a mixed week. On the one hand I have had some big arguments with people about poor workmanship and arrogant attitudes towards health and safety and other people. But on the other had I have spent some really good time with my son fishing and cooking on the beach
Before you ask, no we didn’t catch anything. But the most important thing was being out there and sharing the time together, doing things and being with each other building a meaningful relationship. We love doing that and it has always been an ambition of mine to do more of it. But like all of us I have bills to pay and a family to look after. Fishing’s not going to pay for them, is it?
So instead, we go to work because that is how we are told we should earn money. But then when we get to work we have to put up with some joker messing around or someone being careless. Worse still perhaps the company you work for is only interested in the money they can earn and doesn’t really care or appreciate you. That’s why a lot of people don’t like the work they do, because they feel used and exploited. Construction is no different, but it can also be a dangerous job. So, if you work for a company that doesn’t care about your safety or with people who don’t, then it can be tough. Here are some reasons why people take chances on site:
Young people: often don’t have the experience to know what can go wrong and how quickly it can do it. Plus, they often think they are Superman.
On a price: You’ve got to get on with it, you in a hurry, “I’m on a price!”
Don’t care. Is all they care about is themselves.
Done in a flash. The thing with accidents is we never leave home in the morning knowing we are going to die that day or be injured. They are accidents. However, they happen, whether it is because we were careless, made a mistake, tripped, or fell, whatever the cause it is often over in a flash. That brief moment can end your life at worst, disable you or make you suffer for the rest of your life. When you talk to people on sites they all have stories of accidents and near misses. They will retell the stories to each other competing to see who’s is the best and most gory. Much of that is laughing it off, and realizing they had a lucky escape, a bit of bravado. We don’t like to think of how it could have turned out.
As we know though, last year 30 people died in construction and approx. 50000 had some sort of musculoskeletal injury. There are 2.2 million construction workers in the UK so that is 1 in 44 have an injury that may be impairing their quality of life. Often we don’t appreciate our health until something happens that changes it and so changes the way we live. But its not all negative.
Changing the way we do things.
It is not that hard to work in construction and work safely. Most of it takes a short time, means you need to think ahead and plan what you are going to do. Here are some very basic things you can do to be safer:
- Keep your workspace clean and tidy.
- Look out for trip and slip hazards. For example, keeping cables off the floor.
- When lifting, make sure you do it correctly and don’t try to do it alone if it is too big.
- Take time before you start to plan your work out, identify any hazards before you start so you can either get them put right or avoid them.
Remember, no one can force you to work unsafely.
These changes are only superficial though. Many people want more than this. That’s what I want, I want to escape the routine of 9-5 Monday to Friday, cramming your life into the weekend and then repeating the whole thing next week. I want to get away from the people who don’t care or who are in too much of a hurry to think about you and how their work may affect you. I don’t want the pressure of having to chase the money and hope that there is enough at the end of the month.
Other people are making radical changes though. I saw this article in the BBC this morning. It is all about people who have decided enough is enough and they are going to take a leap into the unknown and live in a van that they have converted themselves or someone has done it for them. One couple sold their home, but what they hadn’t sold put into storage and got a van and drove off. These aren’t weird or bonkers people, they come from all walks of life and many differing ages just normal people like us. The demand for vans to convert has gone up by 57% year on year and if you put #vanlife on Instagram you get 8 million hits. Another thing they have in common is that a lot of them are making money online while they travel.
Now I get that living in a van is not everyone’s cup of tea and it probably would not be mine. Although I could easily tour around places in a caravan. But what it does demonstrate is that there are more and more people making the switch to an online business and doing things they love with the free time it gives them. One lady Meg said this, “"I get messaged on Instagram every single day, people saying I wish I had the guts to do what you're doing, which I find so sad.” Lots of people would like to change what they do or how they do things, but they are scared to. Scared of failing, scared of the unknown. That is very natural. So, is there a way to learn how to do it and not be scared?
Learn how to do it and not be scared.
Happily, yes, there is. I have been making the change to an online business. It is something that I never thought would be possible for me because I did not have the skills to do it and I didn’t like change, it scared me. I liked being in my comfort zone. I had been looking for a way to make an “alternative” living for a long time. But found very few possibilities that I could afford or felt confident enough in to do.
Then one day I was offered the chance to watch some free videos which told me about a way of learning how to start an online business.
- There are different ways you can do it.
- You can learn at your own pace.
- You can learn while you are still doing your normal job.
- You are shown what to do every step of the way.
- There is a team of tech savvy people to help you if you get bogged down in computer talk.
- Plus, there is a whole community of like-minded people who will inspire, encourage, sympathize, and spur you on.
I have been astounded at how much it has taught me. It has helped me to not only build an online business, but it has helped me to see things differently and so the changes don’t scare me now. I can embrace them and work with them. That series of videos opened up for me a whole new world of possibilities that I had been searching for for a long time. Its has taken effort and commitment on my part but the more I have got into it the more I have been able to take out of it. I’m building a better life for me and my family by have a business that lets us spend more time together and do the things we like, together. To experience more of life on our terms and build a better life for ourselves. We would like to share this with you. If you would like to learn how you can start your own online business the click here and give me your name and an email address and I will send them to you. Its completely free, no catches! It may decide its not for you, which is fine. But it may also completely change your life and how you live it.
I want to be building more of this.

15th of October 2020
I have recently talked about the gloomy outlook in the current jobs market. However, during the week, I came across an article on the BBC. Interestingly this tied in very nicely with the training that I have benefited from and also been discussing recently.
In the article they talk about how you can stand out from other applicants. Here are some of the ways listed:
- Identify your core skills.
- Pick job positions that suit those core skills.
- List them on your profiles.
- Recruiters often look for specific skills.
- Search online for jobs that need these skills.
- Emphasize your skills.
Perhaps you feel as though you need different or more skills. Search online and there are free short courses on offer. These are from people like the University of Edinburgh, The University of Oxford, the Open University, Codeacademy and Coursera.
Perhaps it is a time to retrain if you cannot find a job in your previous profession.
Try looking for jobs where there is already a shortage. This means the demand will be high for new recruits. You can find a list of them here.
In that article they had some professional recruiters give advice to job seekers. Here are some of the things they said:
- All experience is valuable. Voluntary work for example.
- Be creative in how you show your value. Use Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram and Twitter.
- Focus on your key skills. If you are creative then show how. If you like data or analysis what interesting facts and figures do you have to show.
- E Commerce is a great business to consider starting. Some of the most successful ones started in times of austerity. So, ignore the doom and gloom.
- Enlist supporters ,like friends for family to help you, to cheer you on.
- Be resilient. You will have to persevere.
Key Messages.
I think there are some very important messages in this article.
Key or Core skills. All of us have things that we are good at. Some of these things we do in our corporate 9-5 world and others we do as hobbies or past times. Often though our hobbies are real skills as well because they are things that we are interested in, we like to learn about and have a passion for. Because of this we have an above average knowledge of the subject and may even be an expert on it.
Retraining. Branching out to learn a skill that is in demand is going to increase your chances of securing a job.
E Commerce is business done on the internet. This has been a growth industry for many years now and currently accounts for 16% of all sales in 2020.
Enlist supporters. Family and friends are great for moral boosts. But whatever we are trying to do if we are around like-minded people then it has the same effect.
There is no doubt that looking for a job is currently a real challenge. Equally if, like many people, you don’t like your job, trying to find something else is equally challenging because so many others are also looking. Perhaps you have thought:
- retraining is daunting.
- you won’t have the time to learn.
- it will take up too much of your time and stop you spending time with your loved ones for example.
- Will it cost you a lot of money?
- you don’t know anything about E Commerce!
The Eureka moment.
I totally understand how you feel, I have had the same feelings in the past as well. I had no idea how to start an on-line business or what e commerce even was. But I had been looking for some time how to earn money on the internet and if I could do work from home to earn extra money. Probably partly because of this, seemingly “out of the blue” I was introduced to a training course that told me I could start an online business and it would guide me through the whole process, one step at a time. Is all I had to do was give my name and an email address and I would get a series for totally free videos that would tell me more about it. I wasn’t asked for any card numbers that I could cancel at any time, none of that. I had nothing to lose so that’s what I did.
It got better though. Because they explained that one of the advantages of an online business is you can do it anywhere where you can get the internet. Not only that if you set it up right it can work for you 24/7. But also, while I was learning how to do it, I could still go to work and do my normal job because I could do the training at my own pace. As well as this lots of people have online businesses doing things they love, their hobbies or passions become their business. Just think for a moment what that would mean for you:
- Working doing something you love.
- Having a business that worked for you round the clock, even when you are sleeping. Where ever you are.
I am in my 50’s and have worked in construction most my life, so it was not all plain sailing. There were things that I didn’t understand and got wrong. That didn’t put me off because there was a team of people who were much more tech savvy than me and I could get in touch with them at any time and they would help me to sort out whatever problems I had. What I needed was to commit some time, be determined and persevere. As you went through the training though and you started to see results then that inspires you to want to do more and keep going, so you build up momentum.
The training has taught me so much, not just about E commerce but also about myself. Inevitably though there are times when you feel a bit overwhelmed or not sure. To help you overcome this there is a whole community of “supporters” who are doing the same as you. Some have just started; others are veterans but all of them collectively at some time or other have had to cope with different situations. They have overcome them, and they will offer encouragement, support, and advise about what you could do and how to do it. So, you are never on your own on this journey. Yes, it can be a bit daunting, most of us have never considered having an online business. It is also very exciting to know what can be done and be shown how to do it.
I have benefited immensely from this training. Someone shared it with me, which is what I want to do for you. Perhaps you need another job or would like to change what you are doing. But like me you are uncertain how to go about it and where to start. Remember the key messages from the BBC article:
Key or Core Skills.
Retraining
E Commerce
Supporters.
This is what they recommend, and this training has all of this, in very large doses. So, what are you waiting for? Remember the video series that I will send you is totally free. Just send me your name and an email address and you can start to see how it could work for you. If you decide its not for you, unsubscribe and you won’t hear another thing. I look forward to hearing from you.

When will you retire?
If most of us were asked, “How long we would like to keep working?” The answer would often be, “For as short a time as possible.” But for many people the reality is they may not have a choice and will have to keep on working for as long as they can. In construction there are about 920,000 people working in it who are self-employed. A lot of the younger ones are migrant workers but there are a lot of older ones who started out as apprentices and have carried on their trades. They are still working in their 50's.
When we are young, old age seems an eternity away. Because of that, we don’t tend to think about it or plan for it when we are younger. But this ironically is the best and cheapest time to start doing so. If you live in the UK and have a career where you are employed, then not only do you pay into a pension but so does your employer and the government too. That’s the law. This means that over time you can build up a good pot of money to keep you in retirement. You can also add to your pension with private pension schemes. This will allow you to have more of an income or lump sum and possibly to retire early too.
If you are self-employed though, the story is very different. Only you contribute to your pension and you need a full 35 years to get a full pension. You can buy private pensions to improve your retirement prospects. But there are a lot of people who don’t do this.
Self-employment
Self-employment is a two-edged sword. It gives you freedom to do what you want when you want. But if offers little security, no sick pay or holiday pay. So, although you can earn good money sometimes, when you average it out over the course of a year and break that average down into a week or days money then it does not always look so great. So, the money is not always there to invest in yourself for the future.
Just getting sick can be a real challenge money wise. This is because 9 out of 10 self employed people have no serious illness insurance. It is estimated that half of self-employed people have no savings that they can fall back on in case they get ill. Only about a third of all self-employed people have adequate provision for their old age. It’s no wonder they are sometimes heard to say:
“We’re not allowed to be ill!”
Because of these things many self-employed people will have no choice but to keep on working as they have little or no financial provision for their retirement. Then as you get older and you have bills to pay, a house and family the prospect of finding the money to start doing something about it is more daunting than ever. As the years pass and the number of candles on the cake increases you think about what will happen more. But often by then it is too late to make a difference to the problem. Remember that you need 35 years of full contributions to get a full state pension. That is only a basic pension. If you want something better then you need to invest more in a private pension. Those figures are not set to improve as the number of people going into self-employment is rising but the number of people contributing to a private pension scheme is falling.
Health, Age and Work.
Generally, we take staying health and being able to work for granted. But the fact is that when we start to get to about 60 our bodies cannot do what they used to do. The Office for National Statistics says that on average we can expect to have a disability free life up until the age of 64 in the UK. Just before you are going to retire. That is quite unjust, that the time you have been looking forward to so you can do all those things you have been thinking about for years comes after the time when things can start falling apart health wise.
I know how all of this feels.
- What it’s like to think you will have to work for as long as you can.
- What it is like to hope you don’t get seriously ill.
- To think about the future knowing there is little you can do to change the outcome now.
- For your body to start telling you, This is getting harder.
Is there anything you can do?
A year ago, this is exactly what I thought, that my future was fixed. It was too late. There was nothing more I could do other than try and save what I could, keep on working and then just hope for the best. But then I came across a series of videos the totally changed my outlook, let me see that I could change what the future holds for me. If you would like to see those videos for your self then just click here and leave your name and an email address and I will send you a link to watch them.
In the videos you will learn how:
- many people are changing their life from a traditional to a digital life.
- Learn how you can choose many different paths to do this.
- Learn how to start your own online business doing what you choose.
All these videos are totally free. As I have said before this is not a get rich quick scam. It is an educational system to teach YOU how to create the life you want with an online business. You can do it at your own pace, and you can do it even while you are still doing your normal job. So, I am not asking you to make risky decisions that will impact you or your family. It will teach you everything you need to know so that you can succeed. You will not be alone in this either. There is a whole community of people just like you who are doing the same thing. Some have just started, and others have already been able to make great changes in their lives. There is also a back office technical team that is there to help you if you have any issues. There are webinars that you can follow and training galore, all of which is designed to help you build a better life for you and your family.

Is it time to change?
I have been in construction for a long time. As I have got older it has got harder. There is never enough time, you’re at work for too long and not home enough. You always seem to be chasing your tail. If your partner works too then it is even worse. It can be so hard to spend any quality time together. Then looking more long term, I have to think about retirement and pensions. Currently, retirement age in the UK is 66. I’ve never had a private pension and so I don’t expect to be living the “Life of Riley” when I retire, unless I keep on working. Plus the government keep pushing retirement age back so you will need to work for longer before you can benefit. But construction is pretty much all I know. So what else can I do?
At work, currently, I have been heavily involved in the roof. This is a trussed roof. So, all the elements are pre-formed and fitted on site. It is very quick and relatively straightforward. But the architect we have is probably not the best (or hasn’t been paid the best) and so a lot of the detail about the work has not been thought through by them which causes us issues and means there are amendments that need to be made on site. I can draw these out to make sure they are going to work. Its not really my job to do this and I don’t get paid extra for it. But, it keeps the job moving along. Also, it pays to be as versatile as you can so that you’re are of maximum value to your customers.
Along side this work though, I am building my own online business. My online business is aimed at helping people like you, if you are reading this, who, like me, want to get out of construction or another job you dislike but don’t know how or what you can do to make it happen. Perhaps you feel you don’t have the skills let alone the knowledge. This is certainly how I felt. Now though, I am learning new skills and have already been shown how to do so many things. A lot of these things I had never done before and would never have dreamed of doing less than a year ago. Like blogging for example. There is an art to blogging. People like you want to be able to see the facts easily, why should you read on? Here’s why:
- An online business is easy to set up. I can show you all the training how to do these things. If I can do it, anyone can.
- Once it is up and running, it can work for you day and night.
- If you have an internet connection, then it can work anywhere as well.
Think what this could mean for you.
- You could give up the job you dislike.
- It does not have to take up all your time. So, you can have more quality time with your family.
- It earns for you day and night and you can scale what you earn. You get financial security.
- You can do it anywhere, at home, on the beach, by the pool.
- These are skills that are transferable and can be applied to so many different things.
All of this more than likely sound hard to believe. I get that. That is exactly how I felt when I first heard it. Lets be clear, its not a get rich quick scheme. You must put the effort in to learn the new skills. But you can do it at your own pace, in your own time and you can do it while you are working at your normal job. So, you don’t have to throw your job in and commit to something you don’t know much about, that would be crazy. Also, there is a whole community of other people who have just started learning or been doing it longer and have already been able to do just what they want. They are available to guide and advise. So, you’re never on your own doing it and whatever problems you face along the way, someone else has overcome them and can help you to as well.
I now look forward to a time when I can work from anywhere I want to. Which is great because my wife and I always wanted to spend more time together and just do more, together. Plus, it means that I have a business that will work for me and make my life easier. I also means that I will have a more secure future with a pension I can make and grow myself. I can also teach my son to do it. Although he wants to be a pilot. But it will be a skill he can use whenever he wants or needs to.
So what about you? What do you want to do? Is it time to change? If you are curious to find out more like I was then click here and you will get a free video series which will tell you lots more. Is all you have to do is tell me your name and give me an email address when you click the link. I will do the rest.

Written on Thursday the 17th of September 2020.
Will you make the change?
When my son was about 7 we went to Centre Parks on Holiday. There was a section of the forest that had been made into an adventure course. My son wanted to do it with me. So, when we arrived we were put into harnesses and given a demonstration of how to clip ourselves onto the safety wire that ran all around the course. If you did fall off, you would only fall a little way and the line would stop you and you would be able to climb back on and keep going. This was all fine and we completed it with no problem. At the end of the course when you were at the highest point, the only way down was on a zip wire. I had never been on one before. What surprised me about it is this, when I was standing on the platform waiting to launch myself off, although I knew I could not fall because I was clipped on, but every bit of me was resisting the urge to step into nothing and start zooming across the last bit of the course. For me it seemed totally counter intuitive to walk onto nothing, even though part of my brain knew I could not fall. To overcome this, I had to force myself to do it.
What would you change? Could you do it?
This was a real-life story. But something similar plays out in our minds sometimes when we think about making changes in our lives. If we have a regular routine and order in our lives, then we get a sense of security from that. It comforts us to know what is going to happen. We talk about, “being in our comfort zone”. This can be true even if we don’t like what is going to happen, such as going to work. We like having work even if we don’t like the work. It gives us pay which offers us some security to be able to pay bills and look after ourselves and our families. It helps us to stop worrying so much about the future.
Sometimes, we see changes coming. Like with autumn, as the leaves change colour you know what is going to happen and you are ready for it. You may start getting jumpers out to wear in case it gets cold and putting your flip flops away until next year.
Other changes are harder to spot or may just come out of the blue. Illnesses for example can suddenly change your whole life, very quickly. Redundancy is another thing that may come out of the blue, with no warning. Things like these also then have an impact on other aspects of your life. l
There are estimates that around 3 million people who rent privately are just one pay cheque away from being homeless. Many of these are people with families as well to look after.
Change can be a shock to us. It can make us try to deny what is happening and bury our head in the sand. Sometimes we need time to get used to the idea before we can work with it.
Change often brings with it new feelings. Many of them uncomfortable feelings such as anxiety, angry, frustrated, argumentative and sad. One day we may feel very negative another day more positive. All these things are normal.
Change, changes the future and not knowing what the future is like we often find scary.
Given all of this, why would you choose to make a change?
Perhaps you have been thinking about how you can change your life for a long time, but don’t know how to. Do you know what you want to do but don’t know how to get there? Would you like to do a job you love instead of the one you have? Many people are now worried about their jobs because of the current situation but don’t know what else to do? Do you just keep waiting or do you do something about it now, yourself?
Change does not have to be daunting. Those things I have listed above can make us resist any form of change, even changes that we think will be good for us. Change can be a manageable process if you take it in small chunks. Here are six tips on how to manage change:
- Think of the changes you are planning as goals, not changes.
- Divide you goals up into two camps: First are the ones you want to keep private as you work on them. Second are the ones that you will feel comfortable sharing with someone close to you, such as a friend, partner, mentor, or coach. Don’t discuss the changes you are making outside of you close friends as above.
- Visualise yourself doing your goals. Touch, feel, smell, smell, taste and soak up the atmosphere of what you want to do. Think of it in the present tense like you already have it.
- Make a plan of how you think you are going to reach your goal. Set small goals that you can achieve every day, week, or month. Don’t set too many goals at once.
- Make sure that every day you do at least one thing towards your goal. Think about your progress. Regular achievements will have lasting benefits. Celebrate your achievements by telling yourself you want more of them and note your failures, telling yourself you don’t want more of them.
- Try to surround yourself with people who want similar things to you. That way you can encourage each other and discuss ideas and encourage each other.
Not much of this information is new. It has been practiced by some of the most successful men in history. But never has it been so well documented and made available to everyone who is interested enough to look for it.
There is one big difference now though. More and more people have come to know how to do this and how powerful it is. Because of the liberating effects it has had on them they have chosen to show others how they can benefit from that knowledge. As you may know if you have read my blogs previously, I was made redundant just before Xmas in 2019. On Friday the 13th of December actually. It came as a genuine bolt out of the blue, I didn’t see it coming. It couldn’t have come at a worse time either. I had a big tax bill to pay and Christmas was just around the corner. I felt physically ill because I did not know what I was going to do or how we would cope. At the very best I would not get another job until after New Year and the building trade shuts down for 2 weeks. Like many people I wanted to do something different but despite looking at different things I didn’t know what to do. My skills were mainly building related, so my options were limited. I didn’t have loads of money to invest in anything either. Nor am I a hugely confident person who can blag their way through things. As I described earlier, I did not consider change as my ally. I felt trapped in a cycle that I did not see any way out of.
So then up popped a video telling me exactly how I could start to learn to change my life, by doing things that I love to do. I could learn how to do it whilst doing a regular job (which eventually I got another one) and it would allow me to earn money 24hours a day 365 days of the year. Yes, I was sceptical. With so many fake and dishonest things on the internet you must be. But it was a free video series that they were offering and so I had nothing to lose. That was in January 2020, 7 months ago. Now I belong to a community of people from all different walks of life and from loads of different countries who are all doing the same thing. They are building better lives for themselves by developing an online business. I have learnt new skills; built my own web site and I even do a blog every week. Not just that though, it has given me new ways of looking and thinking about things. Including change. It would be impossible to tell you everything in this blog. So that is why I am offering you the same free video series so that you can look, listen, and see for yourself what is involved.
So, will you make the change? Will you take that first step into the “unknown”?

Why are you here?
If you are reading this then it is because you are curious about how to build some kind of career for yourself away from the grind of the long hours on sites, invoicing or doing quotes for work you may not even get and the commute that goes with it.

- Maybe you’re getting older, like me, and you are thinking, I don’t want to be doing this anymore. My body is getting worn out working in this environment all day. (I'm not quite as old as him).
- Do you want to spend more meaningful time with your family? Are you tired of being "ships in the night"? Do you struggle to find the time to have meaningful conversations with your wife or your family because time is so short?
Then this could well be exactly what you are looking for.
There are a lot of people who don’t like what they do and would love to change jobs, work for themselves or have enough money to do exactly what they want. More people are looking for a realistic way to start some kind of business while still doing their day job. Something they can build up to get a good enough income that in time they can tell their boss:
Adios amigos. See ya, wouldn’t wana be ya! I quit!
Or words to that effect.
What stops more of us from doing this? Fear of the unknown, Fear of failure? How much time will it take? Is it a scam, am I going to get ripped off? Is it realistic to hope to replace your income before leaving your job and then focus on the business full time.
I can tell you that it absolutely is realistic and more so than ever in today’s digital world. When I started my online adventure, I used to work on it in the evenings around my 50 hour a week construction job.
What was important to me was not just the fact I wanted to be able to make money with my own business. A business that wasn’t wearing me out. That would give me more free time to spend with my family. More than that it had to be something honest. I always cringe when I hear about people being taken for a ride or fed a load of lies. We’ve all heard it, that is why we are so wary.
What kind of business can you run part time?
You should start with something that is very product driven and extremely easy for your customers to understand, order and receive. Something you believe in and feel confident selling. It may be a product that you have experience with through a hobby or passion of yours. It needs to be a product you can sell many times over every week without spending a lot of your personal time on customer service, support or transactions. After all the last thing you want after a 50-hour week at work is to come home and then have to deliver whatever it is that you’re selling.
Get started with affiliate marketing.
So, what business models can work around your job? Affiliate marketing is a great one to start with. This is where you sell other businesses products and get a commission – without having to get involved in dispatching the product and customer servicing. Your job is to get people interested in the product and they then buy it from that company. If you are an affiliate, the number of products you can sell is unlimited. And the beauty of it is that you can sell those products many times over, 24/7, 365 days a year. So even when you are at work or sleeping, you are busy growing your income as you grow your sales.
Sell with E-commerce.
Another option is to sell physical products with an E-commerce business. With physical products, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. You can order existing products in bulk at a fraction of the cost and then set up a sales system.
Opportunities like Amazon FBA will do the heavy lifting for you. They will process the payments from customers and deal with the packaging, distributing and customer service. In the meantime, you’ll be busy selling the products and setting up marketing and ad campaigns to make those sales happen – which you can do around your job in just one or two hours a day.
Something to consider as you go into this.
Whatever you are selling, the first 10 sales are going to be the hardest. But once you’ve made your first double figure in sales, you will gain the confidence that you can do it repeatedly – and grow. You will learn exactly how many sales you need to be making each week and each month to have a steady business that’s going to eventually replace your income.
People always want the ultimate answer to the question “how long is it going to take?” Results can differ from 2 to 12 months. It comes down to whether you picked the right product for the market at the current time – and your commitment to learning the digital skills you need to succeed.
I know what your thinking. I had enough trouble selling things on Ebay before I started, let alone trying to do it as a real job. That’s where the training came in. It showed me everything I needed to do to get started. It was a step by step guide. I’m not a tech head so I really needed someone to show me how to do it. But it didn’t stop there. They taught me how to write a blog, shoot videos for ads, communicate effectively with people and so much more. It wasn’t always easy. I would get stuck or things wouldn’t go as fast as I wanted them to go or thought they should go. Then you can get fed up and feel like giving up. But there are two other amazing things about this training: You are not alone!

First. There is a huge community of people just like you and me who are doing it as well. They are in loads of countries earning a living just the way I have described. Some are old hands, and some are new. So, whatever you end up struggling with, there is someone who has done that and can help you overcome it. Even if it’s just a friendly word.

Second. You remember I said I’m not a tech head. Even now I get stuck doing some bits. But there is a dedicated professional team of people to get you out of those “what to do when you press the wrong button” moments. Once I spent an hour and a half on a web call to an adviser in Australia. It was 2am their time when we started. Everything got sorted, it was magic and not just because I didn’t know what to do!
So why don’t you give it a try. There are young people and old people doing it. From all walks of life, all together. Building a better life for themselves by building their own online business. From Feng Sui to Bike riding and everything you can think of in between.

Coping with redundancy.
What can you do then if you are worried about your job? It can be very stressful. It may be that you are “The Best” at what you do. It may be that you have been working for a company or client for a long time and have a good reputation. But, sometimes, all of this is not enough to save your job.
Do you lie awake at night thinking about what you would do if you had no work? Does it pre-occupy you? People deal with these situations in different ways.
- Some bury themselves in work, so they don’t have time to think about it.
- Others take to doing lots sports or activities related to a hobby which block out the thought of it.
- Some drown their sorrows in drink or drugs.
- Perhaps it is affecting how you sleep because when you are lying there quietly your mind races with “what if’s”.
- Does it affect your home life?
- Does it make you impatient with your family and loved ones?
- Are you more bad tempered? Not just with family but with yourself and the situation.
- Do you blame yourself, wonder what you did wrong or beat yourself up over it?
- Does it make you feel sick with worry?
I remember many of these feelings If you do get the news you were dreading, and they “Let you go” then what? Some days will probably be better than others.
- Some days you can be optimistic and see it as a time to regroup and decide what you want to do.
- Other days it may seem like the end of the world and you won’t know what to for the best. You may not even feel like doing anything because your mind is so clogged up with trains of thought going around and around in your head.
All of this is normal. Afterall, you have bills to pay. Perhaps you have a mortgage or rent to pay. You don’t stop eating just because you have no work and the children still grow and need new shoes and clothes. Perhaps you and your wife may be able to make do, but for how long?
So are there practical steps you can take to help you. Yes, there are: Here are some of them:
- Be present and face your negativity. Being present means remembering that Now, this moment, is all that matters. What has happened is gone, it cannot be changed. Nor does it define who you are as a person. It cannot affect you and you cannot change it. So, forget it and move on. The same is true with the future. It is not here and whatever it is you are fearing may not happen, so you cannot change that or influence it. The only things you can change, and influence are things that are happening at this moment. That is what you need to concentrate on. Remembering and practicing this will free up lots of emotional and mental energy and allow you to focus on what you need to do now. Ask yourself always: At this moment: What is problems do I need to address? For more information on this read the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
- Don’t become angry or bitter as this will not help you when it comes to trying to find another job.
- Do not withdraw from friends and family. Often, we do this because we are embarrassed or ashamed of what has happened to us. But we need people to help us, even if they are only looking out for another job for us. People need to know what is happening to understand us and be able to help if it is possible.
- Are the skills you have transferable? Could you use them in a different sort of career? It may mean you earn less money, but it is a start.
- Can you learn new skills and go back to school?
- Create an action plan of how you will find new work. List people to contact. Agencies you can sign up with. Update your CV and any profiles you may have on Linked In etc. Don’t expect a revamped CV to be a miracle cure. Sometimes companies post jobs online even though they have an internal candidate they intend to give it to. But they must be seen to be advertising it. Some companies use computer programs to screen CV’s. They look for key words and phrases. If yours does not contain them, it will get junked. There are companies that will word them for you to over come this. You can have a whole new CV done for around £35.00
- Review your outgoings.
Are there things you can cut down on or cancel. What benefits can you claim. Even speak to some or all of your creditors and explain the situation and see what can be done to assist. Make a list of them and work through it so you know you have covered them all. Start with the biggest ones, these are normally the most important.
- Finally, if you have your job still but don’t feel comfortable or willing to carry on, don’t quit unless you have something definite to go on to. You can still do the above to be prepared, but just don’t jump from the frying pan to the fire.
I know what all of this is like. It has happened to me, more than once. I remember going through most of these feelings. They are not feelings that I would like to repeat. Therefore, when I was offered the opportunity to build my own online business and to learn how to do by doing things that I loved to do, I jumped at the chance. I was offered all of the training that I would need plus literally 1000s of courses more.
So as well as building my own web site and business I have done courses on
- how to write a blog and
- writing for the web.
A random selection of other courses available include:
Time management
Leadership
Project management
Self motivation
People skills.

It means that I will not be a hostage to some boss or client who could “let me go”. I am building a better life for myself and my family. Better than that, once it was up and running I could do it on my terms. Working the times I wanted and being able to spend so much more time with my family. I am amazed at how much there is I can learn not just from these courses but from the whole community.
